If you’ve visited my website, you may notice something a little different about some of my images.

They’re AI-generated.

I’m sharing this because I believe transparency matters, especially when we’re talking about digital tools and artificial intelligence. As someone who helps small businesses navigate the online world, I think it’s important to show both the possibilities and th3 limitations of new technology.

"AI images are one example of how technology can make professional-looking content more accessible, when used with honesty and purpose." - ChatGpt, endorsed by me.

Why I used AI images

As a solo parent and solo business owner building a professional website, a professional photoshoot wasn’t always practical. Between personal responsabilities, planning content, designing pages, setting up services and managing all the other tasks involved in starting a business, finding the time for a photoshoot can be challenging.

So, I experimented.

I uploaded my real profile photo to ChatGPT and asked it to create different scenarios – one of me working on my laptop and another in a café meeting with a client. The results genuinely surprised me. Previous AI-generated images often captured the general idea, but small details like facial features could look noticeably different. This time, the images were incredibly photorealistic and much closer to my real appearance.

Are AI images the same as professional photography?

No. There is still something valuable about real photography – the personality, natural expressions and connection that comes from an authentic image of you in your own environment.

For many businesses, especially service-based businesses where trust is important, professional photos can still be a worthwhile investment. But AI images can be a useful option for situations where you need additional visuals quickly, such as:

  • creating website mock-ups

  • illustrating blog articles

  • testing design ideas

  • creating social media content

  • adding variety to your online presence

Using AI responsibly

Like any digital tool, AI works best when it supports your goals rather than replacing genuine connection. For my own website, I’m using AI images as a supplement – not to pretend they are real photographs, but to explore creative ways of presenting my work and brand.

I believe small businesses shouldn’t feel overwhelmed by technology. The goal isn’t to use every new tool that appears. It’s to understand what is useful, what adds value and what helps you communicate more effectively. And sometimes, that means trying something new.

Summary

AI can be a powerful tool for small businesses, especially when time and budgets are limited. The goal isn’t to replace authentic content or human creativity, but to use technology thoughtfully to create better results, save time and bring ideas to life.

Transparency note: The images showing me working on my laptop and meeting a client are AI-generated using my own profile photo as a reference. My profile photo is a real image of me.
